How are you all coping with the weather/field conditions?

A friend has just told me that the weather is set to improve 'dramatically' from mid April onwards. I just can't bring myself to believe it yet. I daren't dream! Would be like winning the lottery??!!
 
we live in one of the driest areas of britain but we are under water this year .we have no stables and for the first time in my life i would like to put them in for an hour or two to have a break from it. We had a few sunny days the land dried out so hired a harrow we only had it for a day it rained all night and most of the day we harrowed the field but the 4x4 got stuck and chewed up the ground

It's meant to be 12 degrees here on tuesdat so I hope the change is on its way!
 
Things were just drying out now field is saturated in parts. Luckily we are on limestone and it drains fairly quickly. Gateways are terrible but will have to wait to be sorted if it ever stops raining.
Mine live out, and so far have managed. The only good side is that the fat ponies have shed the weight they needed to.
 
The whole field is a total bog and as they aren't allowed hay out, and as was pointed out, the winters are getting longer, I'm moving them on to a new yard where the fields are rotated and also they have hay out in round feeders all winter. It's only a temporary fix, just couldn't cope with them anymore at tea time so they are in for a week before the move.
Also, I'm going house hunting in a couple of weeks to Ireland, plus I'm on the very short waiting list for the yard with the track system which is where I'd really like them before I move. Keeping my options open, but fingers crossed we shall be on our way soon.
 
C'mon, you'll all be moaning in 10 days time when it's warmer and the grass is growing by the minute :)

2 weeks ago today everyone (nearly everyone!) was wanting the 2nd dump of the month of snow to go, it was bitter out.

Now we've had biblical rain and more to come here tonight and during this week, then it will warm up, slowly dry up and all will be well till the ground gets too hard......

TFF, trying to be optimistic :)
 
A day of heavy rain forecast here tomorrow. I'm hoping that that's the last hurrah for winter and then we can finally move them into fresh grass as soon as it's dried out.
 
It’s been an awful long winter and I personally have had enough. I could quite easily sell my lot if I wasn’t so attached to them. Have probably only ridden about 8 times since November. Roll on the dry weather
 
I'll be honest, mine has an on/off hot hind foot that I've poulticed but not resolved. I'm hoping that the dried ground will fix It!
 
I looked at the weather app on my phone this morning and almost cried when it said another 9 days of rain. I came home and looked at the app on my laptop, and the met office, and was extremely relieved to see only two more days of rain in the next 9, and a much more positive long range forecast. Mine have been coming in at night again for the last couple of days as it's been miserable, but I reckon I'll kick them back out tomorrow and hope for the best!
 
I was thrilled on Saturday to get 3 ponies ridden. Nearly screamed on returning when son pointed out that one pony had lost her rug. Nope, the bloody thing had trashed rug, still had it on round neck (had to have the spare full neck on after killing the sheep rug the previous week). The rest of it was shredded and trailing behind her which set off my old git wondering what the hell was going on.

It was a delightful job dragging it back up the field in ankle deep mud. I'm so over mud now. Contemplating growing rice and starting to package up unique forest mud packs!
 
I looked out the window this morning after yet another deluge of rain and had to laugh, with half the fields now a lake literally the horses will need armbands and a rubber ring ! They are having a few hours out but I can honestly say this is the wettest I've seen the land in all the years we have lived here. The field were aerated on the 2 days where it actually started to dry out and we have land drains but it's clay and it just can't deal with this mount of rain. They are normally out 24/7 by now.
