How are your 3yr olds and what are they doing?!

ChristmasSparkles & Dottyfor wha lovely horses :)

My 3yo Welsh Cob is beginning to fill out after suffering through a very wet, cold winter. He's been long reined around 5 times and can stand, walk on, turn and trot a little on the long rein. He went to a show or 2 last year and I plan on taking him to a couple more this year. He still has his balls and am debating whether or not to remove them as he's beautifully bred and has such a good nature he would make a great stallion. He long reins in a saddle and bridle and I plan on backing him at the end of the summer, with a view to possibly taking him cubbing in the autumn then turning him away.

A lady with a cob younger than mine (May 2010) backed him before Christmas and was riding him in the new year, which is far too early imo.

Harvey my just turned 3 year old colt. He has now started 10 mins of lunging twice a week. Will also try and get him out to a couple of in-hand shows this summer berfore he goes away to be produced for his last year of winter youngstock shows.

Here's my little 3 year old.. He's been with me almost 4 weeks now and last raced just before Easter. I'm going to keep him in very light work this summer, just doing 15 mins of mainly walk with a bit of trot and the odd little hack around the farmland we have here! He's very chilled out & receptive to learning new things, just can't wait until he has filled out more and matured for us to do more in the future together!!

Have you any pics? would be good to see your welsh to compare to mine :)

Here's my Rhodri enjoying his birthday dinner a few weeks back
He's been out walking my hacking routes in hand, learning about scary stuff, wearing tack and being introduced to long lines.
Other than that he just loons around the field with his mates all day, as you can see he's not mature enough for a rider yet
