Just wondering how everyones rising 3 year olds are looking.

I havent really done anything with mine over the winter, just taking her in every so often to get a break from the weather but she has some coat on her at the moment.

She is standing at 14'3hh at the withers and 15hh at the bum, anything she makes now will be a bonus as she is a little chunk!

How much more do you think she will grow?

I have two, one rough hill pony who looks as if you could put a saddle on him and start tomorrow and a very well bred Connemara. The Connemara I despair off, he still looks like a yearling TB with big knees, I was hoping to send him for grading this year but I would embarrassed to show him to anyone. I know he will eventually turn the corner but when you know both ponies are the same age and the pony that has had the best of everything from birth looks poorer than the mongrel that was recued it does make me want to scream.

The connemara will probably surprise you one day. You will see a big difference.

Breagha hasnt really had the gangly TB look as she has stayed pretty even throughout. The only time she was gangly was when I got her a couple weeks before her 1st bday but that was lack of TLC.

will try and add pics later but Goofy looks reasonably even atm. He's developing a nice length or rein and is definitely maturing and feeling well in himself....he looks like a small horse instead of a big foal!

He's had the saddle on a week now and been out walking in it but it will be a while yet before im properly on board :)

Skylla isn't three until July, and as she's currently turned out I have no pretty pics but I do have some nice muddy ones ;). She's fairly even at the moment, which is good as I do not really want her to get too much bigger and she's currently about 15.1hh or there abouts.

When a stable comes up at my yard she will start having more done with her, but I'm happy to 'leave' her till the summer now I know she's such a late foal.

Heres mine, cant believe its nearly 3 years since she arrived.shes done pretty much nothing, apart from play with her friends, shes spent a lot of time out this year, but i brought her in the other day and shes as well mannered and chilled out as ever. Cant wait to get her started this year. Im hoping shes as chilled under saddle as she is in hand. shes about 16h at the wither, but has been like that for about 6months now, so hoping shes peaked.

OP - reckon you will get a bit more, maybe 15.2 ?

I do love a chestnut :D

Im hoping she makes the 15'2 as that is a nice height for her size. Her mum was 14'2 and her dad was close to 17hh :O

I have a rising 3yr old quarter horse, ZZ Chip. He'll be 3 in April.

This was him when he arrived directly from the stud, Evans Quarter Horses, on 12 June 2014.

Crikey TPO, what a transformation. Credit to you.

Thanks Asha.

I did not expect him to arrive in that condition. It since transpired I'm not along to have bought a horse they kept in poor condition but to date Chip is the worst anyone has seen come out of there. A bit of a shock but he's coming on well and we are getting there :D

My Titchy is still looking hairy and unlevel and babyish, born 1st June 2012. Just measured him and the back half is 14.1 1/2hh, the front half 14hh. He still needs to grow a bit. Come on Titchy! Looking unlevel and babyish

This is my boy just before Christmas. He turns 3 in April and is is currently standing at about 16hh, although his bum is now higher than my 16.2hh gelding. The vet is convinced that he will make 17.3hh, as does the string test, so he will be spending the next year doing ground work and maturing and I might break him in this autumn depending on how much he grows.
The picture below is of when we first got him as a yearling.

Don't know how to post pic but mine is standing at 16h and he's looking fab, baby face, which gives away his age but the body of a 4/5 yr old. He's part welsh / traditional. :-)

He's 14hh now. But bum high again, his mum is 14.2 and I don't know about his dad as my mare was already in foal when I bought her, so he is my BOGOF . Titch is gorgeous SnowstormII

I am loving all these pictures. This is the first time I have had a youngster and I am taking it all day by day and hoping that I am doing it right.

This is Breagha in the first week I had her
