I have a small paddock I want to reseed

I've dug all the weeds out, and want to put a grass seed down safe for lami prone ponies. I understand a seed without ryegrass is important.

Everywhere i've looked minimum I can order is 1 acre, which is £60-£80. What size would you say this paddock is? 0.1 acre? lol

and any suggestions on where I can buy a small quantity of seed from?

An acre is 4840 sq yards so measure the length & multiply by the width & then divide by 4840 & that will give you the size of your paddock. :)

Make sure you've got out all the docks or you'll be over run with them again & you'll have wasted your time & money.

You want to keep this natural as possible, so a seed with meadow plants in it would suit and help your animals. You also have some hedgerow where plants grow really well. Don't overgraze it like many think you should do then they stuff them full of rye grass hay or hard feed. If they are on the right pasture it will keep them healthy. Although how much paddock you have there unless it goes further than I can see it just looks like a turn out but you can still at least give the right grazing within it, after you have seeded I would leave it for a year. It doesn't matter how high it grows it's what's in it that counts.

If you really want to reseed Mole Valley Farmers / Scats do a half acre pack. I wouldn't bother if worried about lami though.

I have been looking a lot at grass mixes recently as we're going to have to re-seed a few of our fields. You're right, ryegrass is definitely one to avoid for laminitis-prone. I have found 'meadow' seed to be the best, check its for equine use as grass for cows is too rich. Also (sorry can't remember where) found a herbs addition, a small pack that contains herbs horses would naturally have found in the wild, which you mix with your chosen grass seed- this is also suitable for laminitics and will give them some variety :)
Sorry I can't remember any websites, but search and you'll find it. I have also only found acre packs sold, but maybe you could use the rest to re-seed gateways etc in other fields? Or do you know someone that would go halves with you on a pack?

Looks like you've done a wonderful job and that there is plenty for lami ponies to nibble at anyway. You often find that the grass comes back when the area is cleared of weeds anyway. Even chucking some hay for them on the bare bits makes it seed a bit.

It looks like it would make a wonderful little school!

love the google planimeter!!

647.4 m²
0.06474 hectares
0.0006474 km²
6968 ft²
0.1600 acres
0.0002500 mile²

so 0.16 acres :)
