how big should the stable be?

Getting 2 stables ready to start bringing in at night my lovely sec d mare and gelding, both 14.2............measured the stables both are 8.5ft , by 13.5 ft.........are they going to fit in them!!!.......panic mode here

they sound quite narrow but they should be fine, ideally 12ft by 12ft by its not always possible

I wouldn't panic, most horses have excellent spatial awareness, and as long as they can turn around without doubling themselves up then they will look after themselves.

My stalls are only 10 x 11 and I have 16.2s in them with no problems. On the other hand my mini managed to get himself well and truly cast in a 20 x 11.

I had a 14hh in a 9ft by 13ft for a while and she was ok but all you can really do is try it and see if you are happy.

My lads stable is the same size and he's a welsh d, 14.2hh and its fine for him no worries

Thank the lord ...I can stop stressing............really want them in next week as weather is due to get really bad again and cold so the sooner they are tucked up at night the better I will feel, our mare is a 17 yrs and dithers in the wet and our gelding very nervy so will do better the more he is handled..............thankyou !!!
