My youngster turned two in april, i would say he stands a good 14hh at the whither, maybe a bit more an is bum high atm, he's been on a growing spurt and has filled out and is starting to look a bit cobby, he's passport say's cob x we were told his mum was a connie but stood 15hh?
Soo just asking if anyone knows what height will he finish? the person we brought him off said he will make 14.2hh approx...

JM07 has a point, with unknown breeding its a bit hit and miss. you could just pick a height out of the sky and be right!? I would expect another couple of inches from a two year old, but it also depends if hes a late maturer, well feed, etc.

Few too many variables. Sorry not much help!

by the string test i mean "do the string test"...not "how long's a piece of string" i

take a piece of baler twine, hold between thumb and finger at point of elbow still holding at elbow, run string down leg to ergot, hold string and without moving hand at elbow, take string towards wither....this is, give or take 1/2 an inch a rough idea of their adult height

im in the same situation too.

my yearling is now 14 months old and shes near 14hh.

every tells me shes going to be big!
so no i will do the string test hopefully with out getting kicked and then i will have a rough idea..

String test is fairly spot on - said Chancer will be 15.1. At 2 he was 14.1 and now at 4, is 15 hands at the wither and just under 15.1 at the rear so will be near as damm it 15.1 - he is a gypsy cob.

All of this is all good and well but i brought a 3 year old that i have known since a yearling she was meant to make 16HH as a 5 year old she is 17hh!! Hmmm not sure they did the string test correctly!!

if they did it at all...

maybe if they had, they might have siad she could make nearer 17hh, rather than just told you what they thought she'd make..
