How Big Will He Make?

Following on from my thread asking what breed you think my Mare is,i was just wondering if anyone may have any idea of how big her Foal will be?,he is just 6 months old,Mom is around 13.3/14hh,i was told his Sire was 14/14.2hh.Thank you.

He looks very close to Mum's height already, only 5 inches off by the look of him> So I would expect him to make around 15hh.

You could try the "string test" which I have found to be remarkably accurate over 40 years of doing it with everything from foals to five year olds. Take a piece of string and measure from the point of the elbow to the ergot at the back of the fetlock; keeping the end on the elbow, swing the string up to the withers - the extra length above the withers is about how high your horse will grow (mould the string on the horse's body, IYKWIM, do'nt just pull it straight up).

I'm afraid he'll be as big as he's gonna be, no matter what you want! He does look as though he'll be taller than mum, 'tho.

Yes. he is almost as tall as Mum now. I second the string test. It is very accurate.
