I have a cob filly who is currently 10months old standing at 12.1hh. I was told she would only make about 13.2 (same size as her mum) but she’s already this big. She’s really chunky so maybe over feeding has caused her to shoot up too fast? She’s still with mum. Ive tried to do string test to see how big she will get but it’s working it out at 12hh if I do the coronet band to knee one or 13.2 if I do elbow to fetlock. I’m sure I’m doing it right I’m even using a tape measure but it’s giving me a questionable indication as to how tall she might get. Someone told me a general rule of thumb was +2hh from 1 year old.
im hoping for 14h out of her. She’s a traditional type cob so naturally has shorter legs and I’m not sure how accurate the tests are on those types.
anyone have similar types and can give me and idea of how big she may get? Or what the growth rate of yours were at a similar age to now?
