I have a little rescue pony. He is 2 years old and currently about 12.2. As far as we know he belonged to some gypsies and was abandoned. Was abit skinny and very very wormy when he was found and his feet were very overgrown. How worm free and a good weight and his feet are very good. How big do you think he'll make?

Here is a pic of him with my 16.2

Faracat - that is great, will have a go tomorrow (If I can get a measure or rope near his legs without him freaking - he's still a bit nervous!)

Was hoping he'll get big enough for me to ride. I'm 5'4 and of average build (carrying baby weight at the moment so bit too fat now, but should be back to normal when he's old enough to back). Do you think I'd be too heavy for him? I won't look too big height wise I don't think as have stumpy short legs! Would be nice to be able to hack out with my sharer on her days when she is riding the big lad. If not, he was bought as a companion anyway, so not a big deal!

Also, will the malnutrition and worm damage affect his growth? Now having ad lib forage and a feed of alphabeet with a handful of level grow youngstock mix to pop his vit and min supplement in. The forage and alphabeet has got the weight on to him nicely but will continue with a small feed so he doesn't go mental whent he others are fed and has something for his supplement to go in.

Some youngsters are able to 'catch up' once they have proper nutrition. He is quite cobby so he might carry you. The guide is that horses should carry no more than 20% of their body weight (horse in good condition) including the saddle.
