How big will my youngster make????

The string test will give you a better answer but not definative. I'm afraid going by the parents only some times works as they can throw back through the generations and you can end up with larger or smaller. I know this as I purchased a foal to make around 16.2 and now at 8 years old he's not much off 18.2h. I hope he makes exactly what you want. X

My cobs parents were 12.2 and 13.2,his 3 older siblings are around 13.2 to 14 hands. My 3 year old is now over 15 hands and wearing 6'3" rugs !

Thanks annieb and palterwell good advice. As long as he's 15h min I'll be happy as I want to be able to brake and ride him for many years to come X

Parents are 15h and 15.2 so sounds promising for my hopes of min 15h was just seeing if that's ruffly right for his age at the mo of 13'1 14months- to reach 15h full up that's all X

My youngster is 20months old and she is just 14.2hh. Her parents are 14.3hh and 16.1hh. I've done the string test and it comes out as 15.3hh. (Hopefully!)

Have you see. That horse height calculator? Though I think it's ,a only so,ed at Arabs so not quite correct!

Rule of thumb I have always found prety good is 80% of adult height as a yearling. Cant be doing with all these string test etc as it will only make what it will and you cant do much to alter that , but you can sure make yourself worry a lot :-) Unless its for height classes whats the real issue

Hmmmm......... I thought that. Bought a 15month old, 14.2 coloured, Dad is a 15.2hh Trad, Mum a 15.1 SecD . He is now 4 - 16.2 and built like a brick outhouse. And still growing. An absolute delight though!!!!

Popsdosh thanks I'll do that. I just didn't want him to be full grown at 14 hands something as he will be too small for me to brake and ride and I'd have to sell him on. A lot of horses on here out growing there parents haha bless! As I said long as his big enough for me to ride ill be happy 😄 Love my little man
