All this talk of youngsters has got me thinking....

How big would you think my youngster will make? We have just found out she is about 6 months younger than we thought and is currently around 2 yrs old (just started to look like she might shed her front teeth). At withers she is around 15.1hh, at bum I guess maybe a couple of inches higher. She's a mixed sort, we think Clydesdale x TB or something similar, I've been told they can take ages to grow full height so it's got me wondering.....so you have a better idea, here's some pics of her:

At 1 yr old:

First show aged about 16 months, not best pic but gives you an idea:

Id say at least 16hh, they don't usually stop growing until about 7. I bought my horse when she was 6, she was 15.2hh now shes 16.1hh.

I think her bum is higher than 15.2 now, so I know I will have to wave good bye to the 15.2hh theory

Suits me but my poor mum who own's half of her is 5' nothing !

Fingers crossed she'll be an easy girl

Aw thanks, her last owner obviously did not think so, we got her ridiculously cheap because they thought she was an ugly bug! Poor Bellsie

She's a real sweetie and just a pleasure to have around, I'm so glad we bought her

Chancer is 3 in June - his bum is now 15 hands and his front end is 14.3 - his rear end looks now in proportion and we reckon he will end up about 15.1.

Your girl is lovely - not all clydes are huge - Cairo is 16.3 on tippy toes.

Tell your mum I ride Cairo who is full clydie fine and I am just under 5'. As long as she is an easy girl she will have no problems. I did find Fleur difficult - 16.3 WB who was anything but an easy ride and there were times I would have benefitted from longer legs.

My boy is 16 hands at 3.5 years, his mother was 15 hands and his sire 16.2. I am surprised that he has made that, when cut he might grow a bit more.

I think she might see 16.2hh in too.

Aww thanks, yes she is a lovely horse, honestly I could gush about her all day, she's as honest as the day is long - just hope she stays that way!

That's encouraging to hear, thanks.

I think she will be just as nice under saddle, she’s showing all the right signs and really is not afraid of anything! Her natural instinct seems to be exploring and instead of shying away from something she is frightened of she wants to inspect it! LOL, we keep her ‘free range’ as it were on the yard at night along with her mate, Harry the Shetland, she really is hilarious, like a guard dog running out of her barn and inspecting every little noise, really makes me laugh bless her cottons!

I haven’t seen pics of your boy since your show with him last year, I’d love to see what he looks like now….!

Not sure how big she will make but she is gorgeous! How could her old owner say she is ugly, she is beautiful!

Bodey is 15hh at the wither now at 3.5 years old so I’m hoping he will grow another inch? What do you think?

I know, bless her, I have to admit I call ger ugly bugly now - just out of habit!! LOL. Poor girly.

She does have one blue eye, which some people don't like I guess, but I think it suits her, it's like she has a naughty side and a good girl side! Hee hee

Yeah I definitely think you will get another inch out of him, perhaps even two!

She is gorgeous! I would say approx 16.2, she has obviously got quite a bit of TB in her and will make a really lovely horse. Here is my Clydesdale x. We measured her recently and she is 16.3 and a bit (I am 5ft 11), She is a heavier version of your girl. If yours has the sort of temperament that my mare has, you won't go far wrong. (Excuse the sad tinsel on my hat - it was taken on Christmas day)
