Im struggling to keep my cob clean for when we go to an event. He lives out with a rug on as he doesnt like to be in. He doesn't like to be bathed and he doesnt like me fussing over him. Any ideas on how to keep his legs cleanish? Also its a struggle to wash his tail..it takes me ages..and then he goes and poo's in the trailer and dirtys all his tail again. Any help and advice would be welcome. Thank you x

Can u get someone to feed and distract him with treats while you wash bits? Try hot towelling him might be easier? Then rug with a neck and turnout boots and a tail bag thingy?
Keep perservering and you may wear him down with the washing business as he gets older? May take 10 years lol Good luck.

^^^ this!!

Pig oil stops mud and poo sticking. Smoother tail in oil and keep in a plait and bandage all the way to the bottom In the trailer

Deffo get a tail bag for the trailer! Mine is the same I spend ages washing his white tail and then the second he steps in the trailer he poos all down it.

Another thing I've found to be good for keeping feet and legs clean is those pull on bandages, the people kind. You can get cheap ones from the supermarket and just put them over the hooves and pull up the legs. Otherwise the feathers id spent hours washing would just get filthy from him standing in his poo in the trailer..... I'm getting a black horse next time ;)

My cob can fidget when he is being washed but give him a haynet and use warmer water and he will stand all day.

I use a tail gaitor in the winter when he is turned out
