Hi All, my new mare is being bitten by flies on her sensitive 'bits', I am applying a think layer of sudocream twice a day but the cream is either soaking in or being rubbed off as by the time I come to reapply she is covered in black flies and little blood spots where the blighters have got to her. any ideas? thank you :)

My mare had this problem last year. I tried all kinds of gooey creams but in the end I just give her teats a good spray with flyspray - Effol Horse Fly Blocker which smells so bad even I won't go near her!

LOL! I have the Naff off spray that I apply liberally everywhere else which seems to work but was worried spraying it on her sensitive pink bits may irritate her even more hence the cream instead...? I may try the Effol one you have suggested. thank you :)

I use the naf ditch ointment on my girls udders - it's soothing as well as keeping the bugs off, she loves having it applied

Neat neem oil. I warn it up and empty into an old butter rub. To apply I wear gloves, scoop some out with my hands and rub them together to warm/melt it. Then it's titty massage time!

I use neem mixed with aqueous cream which works well. I use the cream on its own sometimes too but as you say it does wear off whereas the neem leaves a residual film
