My 7 year old dutch warmblood who I bought as a dressage potential, is not interested, I have had her a year and still doesn't want to know. I now want to sell her but have no idea how, or what people would pay for her. Any suggestions?, she is 7 and out of Rubinstein, she hacks safely and is a joy to handle but really really lazy. I am a novice so totally unsuitable for me. Help

I would have thought that a quiet, lazy horse was perfect for a novice owner. Before you give up on her, have you tried working with a good trainer to try to get the best from you and her ?

I have had a trainer for the full year that I have had her, indeed she found her for me, because she is so quiet, but when she rides her and puts pressure on her she messes about and goes up. She hacks out brilliantly, but I want to do dressage, and a year down the line we still haven't mastered cantering in a circle, trouble is she knows I am a novice and thinks its good to pull me forward out of the saddle.

Oh dear, that is bad news. You have got a bit of a problem because the issue is not that she is lazy, but that she rears, which is a very dangerous habit and will make her unsaleable to most people. Your trainer is at fault if she chose this horse for you because it doesn't sound like a good horse for a novice.

Yes I agree, going up is the worst nightmare for a novice, luckily never done it with me, and she only goes up is an evading manner rather than a I'm going to kill you way. However, now I have the issue of getting rid of her without giving her to a dealer, who wont care what happens to her.

I think lots of peeps would buy her provided you were open and specific about what she objects to that might result in waving at the Queen.

There are more peeps looking for quiet hacks than there are for dressage divas. BUt they prob wont pay big bucks (which you might have paid?)

Also might be a good idea to advertise her on Project Horses, you can be completely honest about her and it's very cheap to advertise on there. I've seen quite a few WB's on there and I know that some of them have found some super homes.

Cant your trainer help to sell her?

I might know someone interested if you PM me full details, incl. what pressure ur trainer puts on her, how big she is and where you are in the country.
