Keep my feet still in trot? My feet waggle around constantly in trot, especially sitting but they do in rising trot too. I had a lesson on tuesday and have been working on my runaway knees which come away from the knee rolls when I trot and my toes which point slighly outwards. As hard as I try my feet still waggle around and also my heels shoot up when I sqeeze Toto on. I've shortened my stirrups a hole and it's helped a bit but what else can I do to stop my wriggly feet? (As you can see it's a bit hard for me to wrap my legs and feet around him properly because he's big and I'm small so that dosn't help either)

Have you tried symmetry straps? They fasten around your stirrup and your girth to keep your legs in position. Alternatively just use a bit of baler twine!

Have you done much work without stirrups? Or even bareback? Providing you feel safe and have enough control I'd give it a go, you could start out on a lunge rein to begin with. I really think it helps in so many ways, and it might be the key to getting your seat deeper and more secure, therefore releasing your legs. I'd also agree with lengthening your stirrups rather than shortening them.

My stirrups aren't really to short, it's a funny angle, my instructor told me to shorten them a hole. I have tried no stirrups and it makes no difference, as soon as I take back my stirrups my feet start waggling again
