how can you fall off a horse?!

7 times!....my first instructor told me it took 100 falls to make a rider

This is what I was told too!!

But think that there is a large possibility that I have fallen off more than that! :o Especially when I fell off cross country about 12 times last year....

Vickyb- i've done that one in my teens too. Had just jumped a round & in true teenager fashion kicked feet out of stirrups, dropped reins & leaned forward to hug pony.next thing was stood right behind her quarters. Very embarrassing as had gone through into jump off & had loads of side splitting original comments like 'try & stay on this time' when I went back in for second round.

In the first year after i got my neddy i was really brilliant at falling off.
My biggest mistake was taking cocodomol (think thats what its called) I ve got my own business so i spent the next day throwing rolls of velvet around. As the afternoon wore on and the tablets wore off i realised my mistake!! I was doubled over for about two days following that!

Falling off is one of my talents, one day if I ever retire from competing or go into train I think I could give lessons in how to do it hard, and often.

Not fallen off Ru yet but there is definitely time!

Falling off 100 times to make a good rider?

Think some lessons in balance may be required at this stage! Perhaps 50??:-)

Depends on the horses you are riding. If you "fall" off easily fair enough but some horses are easier to stay on than others. Some can have some fairly determined tantrums, others are very spooky.:( In the past two years I've had two nasty falls from two different horses after being attacked by dogs out hacking. Falling off isn't always something that you can avoid by being a better rider.
