How can you work out height that foal will grow to ?

Firstly let me say sorry for the seriously dumb question !
How do you work out what height a foal will grow to ? Im aware the height of the parents have something to do with it but im sure there is alot more to it than that.

I work out my miniatures bu taking the height of the Dam and the Sire and taking the average. Not too far out at all.

I think the old fashioned rule was measure from the middle of the knee to the floor i think, whatever it is in inches convert to hands

Well Special Additon is only 15.3 ex of a 16.2 mare by Nickel King who also stood around 16.2/3 hands.
