We're supposed to have our own mucking out equipment at college and theres a girl on my side of the yard who doesn't have a wheelbarrow and she always uses mine. As long as people put my stuff back where they find it in the same state they find it in then I have no problem wth people using my things. This morning I came down and she was using my barrow, I didn't really mind because I needed to go and get some bedding and my tyre is a bit flat so I used a friends. When I got back I started mucking out Woody, I chucked the dirty stuff on the floor by the door because she was still using my barrow (she'd actually gone down to get her bedding as well while I was mucking out). I made sure I made lots of noise and still she hogged my wheelbarrow until I went, tipped her empty flax bag out and took it back.
If I were using somebody's stuff if they came down I'd immediatly stop using it.......Rude girl!

It is the same at my yard, there is another livery who uses my broom constantly and it is slowly being worn down to the nub! She gets in a right huff if I want it back while she is using it and will come and take it fom my stable when I am mucking out!

Is very annoying, but I am too wimpy to make a big deal of it.

I don't understand why people don't have there own equipment but have 3 bridles per horse...one of the reasons I moved to a yard on my own!!

At the yard I'm at, there is a tap right outside my horses door. Fine. There is a drain 4 metres to the right of the tap. However, it seems necessary for everyone to chuck their horses water buckets merrily across the front of my stable instead of turn round and use the drain. Bad enough in the winter for ice, far worse in the warm weather and midgy evenings..... heads are going to roll at some point... :-)

I hae exacty the same problem as you! People insist on emptying their buckets outside my horses stables then filling up whereas I always make a point of dragging my buckets down the yard to empty them straight down the drain.

maddening isnt it? I feel like taking my water bucket into the internal bit, and lobbing it straight down the front of all their damned stables!!!!!!!
Trouble is, they're never there at 7 pm, when my poor horse is being eaten alive! funnily enough, this is a uni yard too... :-)

You'd love my yard then - came back from schooling livery to find my stuff scattered about the yard outside a variety of stables (buckets, trugs etc) and my feed buckets being used by another horse. If ever I need to borrow something - rare as I hate being obliged to anyone - I always ask first. I am now going to paint horse's name on everything as there are lots of people using the same items in the same colour so is beginning to get confusing.

I always named my stuff before I moved to where I am now. At one point I used to lock my brushes up

I used to share a barrow with someone at my old yard and I didn't stop using it when she turned up but I always used to ask if she needed it or if she could wait five mins...

I'm the same - i'm not bothered if people borrow my stuff, as long as its put back where they got it, in the same state as they got it. And all my stuff has my/my horse's name on it.
However a woman in my block has been using my stable to put her horse in when she mucks out (she's the only one on the yard who brings hers in at night now, and my boy is out 24/7 so my stable is empty). I don't mind this, except she leaves his buckets, hoof pickings and s**t in my stable! But she's my friend and i'm too much of a wimp to speak to her about it! I know better than to get into arguments from past experience!
