Are you the sort to rush home from a 4 hour ride (like the one I have just done), exhausted but keen to get through that pile of washing/washing up/hoovering etc?

OR.... are you the sort who doesn't care because life happens?

I am a bit confused about where I am to be honest: we are having (or were having before he left the house unfinished) building work done. The house has been a haven of ten inch thick dust for months, but we do have a bedroom and bathroom and the kitchen/diner/conservatory area which are work-free more or less (for now) and so can be kept clean. I get annoyed if things aren't where they should be and I do like a relatively clutter-free, cleanish living space. However, at the same time I am a bit of a sloth in that I will happily leave the washing up til later, leave the bed unmade til I get home from my ride, leave hoovering til tomorrow (which sometimes never comes!).

Someone once said to me that he'd never met a horsey person with an ordered house! Is this true? Can you be horsey AND neurotic about cleanliness? Should I feel bad about not spending every spare minute on housework? Hmmmm... over to you!

I'm a bit sporadic with my cleaning, but I do like it to be tidy and ordered.
I keep on top of the washing but don't do ironing (everything has that crushed look lol!)
The kitchen is generally tidy but I don't fret about it.
Life's too short!

Hehe! I don't iron either. At the moment my ironing board is used as a dressing table as the house is free of most of its furniture (for the building!). Occasionally I pull a top out and it needs ironing, but it's rare! I suppose I may be a bit like you because I like things to be organised but I am not bothered abotu a bit of dust!

I like it when I have visitors, because then I go round the house like one with an obsessive-compulsive disorder, and "deep clean" all the bits that have happily ignored before.
When the visitors go away, I am pleased with my clean and tidy house until it gets messy again.

I step over muddles but vaccuum once a week in the important areas.

I use my Ironing board for wrapping stuff up and framing my paintings and preparing board for painting.

I do mow my lawn and weed the garden a lot cos I do like it to look nice.

When I first stated working from home after my redundancy I thought I needed to do housework once a day now I know that is a dog pooh idea so I come on here twice a day instead.

just to add I worked with a lad who was flabbergasted to hear I only vaccuumed once a week (if that) apparently you need to Hoover your carpets daily!! That could be why he and his wife are having issues !!

Thankfully I live on my own as currently my house looks as if I share if with a horse!!! I always have bandages and saddleclothes drying in the conservatory (or in a tree!), there are show entries, horse books and non-tumble dry breeches lieing around too.

I did use to be a complete clean freak and I still don't like leaving loads of washing and ironing, but it is impossible to be so tidy when a) my horse's wardrobe is starting to overtake mine and b) there is no one else to see the mess.

I hate housework, bores me to death
grin.gif
....have gotten so sick of doing it and 3hrs later it being a shitehole again

,do it when i feel like it these days, lol, nobody else in the house gives a toss so why should i

As long as it is clean but untidy i can live with it....much rather be down the yard shovelling their muck instead

Afterall housework will still be there when we are not

Darent leave ironing more than on day theres five of us and the boys create more washing than me.I clean twice a week and try to keep tidy its the shoes that get me they all have about 20 pairs and dont put them away.I have been known to collect them all in plastic bin bag and throw them in their rooms.Im far more relaxed about cleaning than I used to be rather be with my horse.I hate cooking but do it under sufferance.I like to think I have struck a balance

my house is no where near as clean and tidy as I would like it to be!!...well...Its clean enough, but with 4 kids and 4 dogs it isnt very tidy!!

When I go out for a ride and leave the kids here, I know I will come back to a mess as my OH wouldnt bother to get them to tidy or anything!!

One day, when my kids have left it will be tidy!!

I go through phases - the house is either spotless and shiny or in need of a serious scrub! Currently in the latter state - between horses, a very long working week and excess commuting I just can't seem to find the time or the energy! I must admit I love the house clean and tidy, I just can't be bothered! I have a week off coming up and plan to blitz the place from top to bottom then.....

Mine gleams on a Friday after the cleaner has been!! I HATE an unmade bed and make it as soon as I get up whereas hubby 'lets it air'

thats just an excuse not to make it in my book!!! Our house is normally clean and tidy, messyness does my head in and I will get stroppy about washing up in the sink when it should go in the dishwasher. I keep on top of the washing but the ironing gets done once a week or so (hhmmm pile upstairs waiting to be done right now!!) My house is not as clean as it was pre-horse but its normally tidy enough if anyone should drop in.

ps apparently dh says I'm anal about it!!

my room is awful. My carpet remains covered by clothes nearly all the time, I have shopping bags everywhere and I don't know where anything is. My horses stable on the other hand is neatly organised with a wall for rugs, a wall for boots etc, clean bed, tackroom clean, all stuff organised into clearly labelled containers and I know where everything is. Even my the important things like his papers and bsps membership papers are organised!

I cant get over it that people dont have to hoover every day! theres 6 of us and 2 big dogs and 2 cats.

But.....no one is perfect.

I do have little 'piles'. (letters, artwork, discs etc. lol.) Hate ironing. my pile of that is tucked in a basket under the bed!

I tidy & I clean but I'm not naturally a tidy & organised person so I tend to let my room get to a certain point & then blitz it.

My mum on the other hand, is a complete clean freak. I see her point with a big family but if there's washing up like a few plates & cups left in the washing up bowl until the next morning, she goes on one for 5 minutes & that I can't see the point of

As long as a place is clean but a little untidy from general living then that's ok.

I try to do hoovering once a week, everything else can wait.

Luckily I have a fantastic OH who cooks and does the washing and ironing (because I am not any good at it). My jobs are looking after our cat, hoovering, dusting and cleaning the bath and loo and occasional gardening when I have time.

I am fastidious about J's stable and spend more time keeping that clean. Mucking out is more fun than housework.

Housework is a necessary evil, but only when I have time. Having 2 jobs and a horse doesnt leave much time for anything else.

I have a nice house, but am not particularly house proud.

I only tidy up if I have visitors. I keep my kitchen relatively clean and tidy because I enjoy cooking and don't like it being a pigsty. I would never voluntarily do housework when there are things to be done with the horses which is most of the time!
I have neither kids or dogs in the house so it never turns into a complete bombsite.

My husband and I are both the same as most people here - we like to make sure the stables are spotless!

I suppose I am also lucky in that my husband is not only great at plumbing, electrics, carpentry (he's a carpenter and makes bespoke kitchens) but he also does the cooking and washing. I have taken over some of the cooking while I am not working, and I clean the kitchen floor/surfaces, fill and empty dishwasher, sort the clothes into 2 piles (his and mine) and look after my horse (he helps), but neither of us can summon the motivation to spend a whole day on housework, whereas I know people who do just that!!

I live with my BF in a 2 bedroomed flat and it is mostly tidy. My kitchen is always spotless and as germ free as I can make it as I'm a real stickler for that, same with the bathroom. But our bedroom is always a bit of a mess with clothes and books everywhere! The box room is just full of all the stuff we don't use packed in boxes and the living room is always tidy enough not to feel cluttered. I don't do hoovering though - thats BFs job as I hate our horrible hoover!

We have solved the problem of vaccuuming, we have 5 dogs and 5 cats, and lamminate flooring everywhere
smile.gif
It works well and just needs a sweep and a mop down.

My house is generally clean. I usually vacuum every day because of the dog hair and it really shows up on my pale wood floors.

Today I have blitzed the utility room from top to bottom because there was a strange smell in there - turned out to be soggy dog biscuits under the washing machine!!

I do have a huge pile of ironing waiting to be done - it can wait - I'm busy on here.

This week I plan to blitz my daughters rooms as the youngest is away on an \adventure holiday and the eldest goes to PC camp tomorrow - hooray - child free few days!

I've always said that my stable is cleaner than my house
smile.gif

If the OH sees me doing housework, he always asks who's coming to visit!

Anyway, it's true what they say - the dust doesn't get any worse after four months.

My stables are cleaner than my house.

I seem to leave everything, unless someone is coming up to visit, and I don't iron clothes unless they really need it.

I don't know I just seem to lose the will to live if I start cleaning the house but will always sweep up outside my stables!!
