My girl is 51 days from her first mating. I have noticed today that if her teats are squeezed gently they produce milk beads. This is her first litter, how close to whelping does milk appear for a first time mum?
Phew thanks for that, was a litlle concerned as to me she doesn't look that big and there are supposed to be 7 or 8 in there according to the scan. So another week or so of cooking sounds good to me. Thank you.
Ditto CC and her mum. You should hopefully get a few more signs as she gets nearer to whelping, e.g. restless, bed digging etc. Having said that I had a bitch who showed no signs at all, we were walking round the field and she stopped I thought for a poo, but no, she strained and out popped a pup. It was her second litter though, I am sure your girl will give you some more notice.
ooo a few more nerves today, we have some clear stringy discharge. Is this normal too? We did breed this girl but it was 3 years ago now and i forget the exact symptoms her mum had. I have emailed the owner of the stud dog for advice too just awaiting a reply. My girl seems fine in herself, if a little quiet, srcratching at her nipples and grooming herself a lot, but not nesting yet thank goodness!!
