I've just bought a new riding hat and noticed it has the royal warrant from HM the Queen - "Charles Owen, manufacturers of protective headgear". I thought the royal warrants were given for stuff that the royals actually used and endorsed? Strange when the Queen insists on never wearing a riding hat!!

Perhaps she has to buy them for all the footmen etc?

I wonder if they come with a different safety standard for a footman? I suspect you mean the ones that you see on the carriages but I just had this vision of a footman serving at table being hit on the head by a plate
