How could a horse get a cut here?

So my mare has been in for the last 24hrs, no rugs on. Only things in the stable are haynets and water buckets.

She's managed to cut around the front of her hind leg, just below the stifle. Goes from half way across the outside to halfway across the inside.

Not worried as its not deep and she's not sore just totally baffled about how she's done it! Ideas??

Rubbing on the wall near or on a mostly empty haynet, walks forward close to the wall, haynet goes between hind legs and in pulling out again gives her a string burn right where you have described.

??

They are SO inventive when it comes to hurting themselves!

Hoof from getting up getting up awkwardly.

Did question that too but it's a hay grazer bag, so no holes big enough to get her legs through? Haynet put in first thing is still in one piece and a small holes one, i mean it's possible but I would expect haynet to be stretched or broken. Saying that this is mysti... Anythings possible!

She would have to be very bendy to mark the outside of the top of a hind leg with a hoof :)

This is my thinking too, it goes right round the leg too. Looks like when they get a leg hooked over the wire fencing. So haynet looks most likely culprit but I would expect her to have broken it

I think she just pulled it through and it's a friction burn more than a cut. That wouldn't have needed to break the net. I can see a video in my head of exactly how she could have done it. Daft horses ?

Saw a post on FB the other day saying that going to an equine vet was so much nicer than a small animal vet. The small animal vet gives you a hard time for letting your dog eat something it shouldn't, whereas the equine vet totally understands that of course your horse has just put its leg through a concrete wall......

Maybe she did it a few days ago in the field and the injury is only apparent now? My horse went A over T on a permanent electric fence and the wire cuts weren’t obvious immediately. A week or so later I saw something long and narrow between his front legs and it was his skin sloughing off.

She had a thorough groom the night before, inner leg possible but not sure how I'd miss the rest/not open it up scrubbing shite stains off a grey ?
