How cuddly are your horses?

My riding horse isnt at all affectionate and would be horrified at being hugged!
Old retired never used to be overly friendly, he was nice, never one to bite or kick but i'd be the one to go to him and after a while he'd wander off. Since retiring he seems to seek out fuss more which is lovely.
His mini me companion is a little charity rescue, very nervous hug= possible heart failure.
Cob- I used to swear was hand reared he was the cuddliest animal ever, to the point it annoyed some people as he was unaware of personal space and it made chores difficult. Since being ill last year, he's very sadly not quite the same person. I really miss him hassling me now.
Shitland, well he's not a pony, he's a person and adores people. he would choose a person over horse for company all day long. Very cuddly. In summer i used to sit in the field and he'd come and lie next to me in the sun. He also stays to "muck out" with me standing in each stable as i do them rather than going out into the field with his friends. He's very cute!
Photo of shitland PLEASE!!!

I've only known two horses that really liked a cuddle.
A warmblood mare who was an absolutely sweetie and impossible to take photos of because she just wanted to eat my phone, and a lovely gelding who would lick me like a big puppy.

The ponies could not care less - and the mare in my photo was very much a 'don't touch me! I'll squeal !' type :P

My boy was very well (almost over) handled as a youngster so when he decides he wants cuddles he has no worries about getting very much in your personal space which is a scary habit to break! (He's a 16'2hh IDxISH and at 4 very much still growing, so teaching him now while he's small enough that he can't walk straight over me!)

He'll follow you round the field while you're poopicking even though he's on herd turnout and there's 5 or 6 other horses for him to play with, but does have a habit of 'sniffing' the wheelbarrow (i.e. wiping his nose on the poo) and then trying to give you a kiss. Yum.

He loooooves kisses and if you stand in front of his door he'll sniff your face and slobber all over you, especially if you blow on his nose. It's hard to find the line between cute and dangerous, but we'll get there!

I get one cuddle a year when she's sedated by injection to have her teeth done. The sedation paste for clipping is not strong enough for her to permit cuddling. She's the most business-like horse I've ever know; only interested in human contact if there's work involved.

The gelding will stand to be groomed all day, he likes to be fussed that way but its rare for him to want a full on hug. The mare loves me (it took a while) and will also stand to be fussed and groomed to within an inch of her life so she is always up for a fuss but again for a really deep long cuddle she has to be in the mood.

I however, LOVE cuddles and giving them kisses so I just tie them up and cuddle and kiss them regardless. They are mine and they will do as they are told, lol! ;)

the lovely 4yo I had this Summer, he absolutely loves cuddles and his favourite thing is nap time with a human, he nickers and whinnies in his sleep when someone snuggles up with him! Which is hands down the cutest thing I've ever seen.

All of mine have been very affectionate apart from one grumpy old mare, she would headbutt you off and put her ears back. My current 4yo likes to bury her head in your arms and doze off, she also gives everyone kisses as they walk by which is very funny! She's learnt it gets her more attention. My gelding is a big overgrown puppy and wants lots of cuddles and will stand for ages nuzzling or licking your hand... he also likes to lick your face if you are ignoring him.

Shes not really a people Person. Don't get me wrong, shes not at all nasty and will tolerate me cuddling and kissing her but she does prefer to be left to her own devices. I always give her a kiss on the nose before leaving her though which she lets me get on with.

I have one who will tolerate a fuss but really just likes her own space and another that loves a cuddle/ fuss and scratch! The only downside is that one I waste too much time on fussing over as she enjoys it so much!

about as cuddly as an angry porcupine :(

LOL, i have one of those ... try to cuddle him & you'll get headbutted, try to breathe up his nose & you'll find yourself in the middle of a scene from Silence of the Lambs. Great little cob in so many other way but his nickname isn't Piranha Pony for nothing. My other horse, on the other hand, is a professional cuddle monster :-)

Our gelding is super cuddly and is happiest when someone is fussing him. My old pony cant stand it and will bite your face off if you try and kiss her nose! My other mare will put up with it but tries to inch away slowly if she can!
