While I was working today(Work In furniture sales!)A lady came in to take a browse,so I went up to say 'Hi'....she was in her early 50's,in immaculate Kyra K riding gear with immaculate painted red nails.....'Oh sorry about my clothes, just had my lesson on one of my horses' So I smiled and said 'That's OK,I own a horse too' She smiled and asked what did I have, and I told her I have a cob.....Oooo the look of complete disdain that crossed her face!(And no I did not imagine it!)'Do you compete' and I replied 'No as I have to work most weekends to keep him!'.....'Then why do you have a horse!'....so,at this point I just wanted to chin her...my reply was'Because I love being round them, and enjoy the simple things like hacking and schooling'....with that, she turned round and said 'I'll be back with my husband at the weekend'I stood there amazed, and thought, guess he will be back to pay for the furniture, along with her horses,no doubt a cleaner, groom and gardner('cos judging her nails, she don't do any work!)....and promptly got into her BMW x5 model with it's personal number plate......I'm raging, how insulting is that......God...am I unworthy to be involved in horses because I don't bl**dy compete..what do you think!

PMSL, no doubt she was of the middle aged dressage superstar stereotype! Let her get on with it, she probably doesnt know one end of the horse from the other, I bet she cant even tack up! Heaven forbid she may get something on her clothes!

You probably have more horse sense in your little finger than she does in her entire body so dont let her get to you!

No Tia she was a complete bitch...I'm praying she don't come back this weekend......she was one stuck up madam, see I only own a lowly cob....that I should quite clearly not...See I don't compete!

I've met her type before.. don't let it get to you, I guarantee she has a huge dressage warmblood she can't ride one side of, goes to a known trainer who hates her guts because she is totally talentless and thinks she's done incredibly well if she gets placed in the top ten un-affilliated..
She'll have a vast horsebox with expanding sides, the latest tack/clothes and kit, and no doubt someone else grooms her horses..
You go and see your horse tomorrow, hug his neck, smell that lovely warm special smell of his skin, and after you have left him in a better mood for seeing him, think how you pity that snotty cow; she has no idea what she's missing...
grin.gif

oh and I hope you get commision on your sale, take great delight in buttering her up into buying the most expensive items in the store.. (something vile like a pink leather sofa )

haha, on Saturday, ask her what level she competes at then, and what percentages she's been getting.

I might have a accident where I drop a leaf from one of the oak tables ,while demonstrating how the leaf works, and ask her the above and drop it by accident on her nails!

That's okay, we don't compete either - and one of our horses is quite heavy. So we can be non competing "plebs" together _OC_. Or form our own horses are special even just to look at, be around, handle, groom, ride etc clique.

Always makes me laugh when people like that look down their noses. And I feel sad for their horses too when their owners are like that. True horse lovers love ALL horses, whatever their size, breed, abilities. Stuck up cow!

I think the number plate was TW*T 1, lol
your story is kinda funny, but can also see where your coming from. Be ready for her at the weekend smile sweetly at her, cos she's one sad b*itch.
Shadow everyone else, the relationship you share with your cob, is something she will never experience.

Also must sell my warmblood pronto, i don't compete, he must be wasted with me

Think up some difficult horse question and nonchalantly ask it like an every day question. You can then show you are a real horseperson and maybe you could embarass her if she doesn't know!!!

Gee Skewbald, why would you think she was an American? I'm an American, don't compete, ride a grade Quarter Horse with used tack, do all my own horse work plus work to support my horses and other critters. I wouldn't look down my nose at anyone's horse. I think people that don't ride outside of an arena with their trainer at their side miss all the fun of a having a horse. Nothing beats a nice trail ride (hack) on a crisp fall day or the first warm day of spring.

very stuck up but at least you get more pleasure out of your cob than she does as they are prob just there to say she has money. dont let it get you down as people that work to keep their horses are worth a lot more than ppl that just have them as a symbol
