Mysti is full of beans at the mo as she's only allowed out for a few hours a day since her laminitis! She's galloping around alot and doing her "I'm a prancy arab" trot :p
Today I bought her in and she's got a few cuts on the inside of her front leg but towards the front rather than the back (she does overreach occasionally)
She doesn't seem to be lame and it's not hot and has scabbed over fine I'm just baffled how she's got them as I would have heard if she had got caught in the fence and would have thought if she had caught herself with her other front leg it would be a bigger cut instead of a few small scratches or just bruised?

TFC please don't move to picture gallery it's just one photo to show the cuts! :D

Could she have bashed into herself with her other front while doing a prancey trot? Could you turnout in brushing boots, would they cover the area? Might save her from herself lol!!

Shall be turning out in brushing boots and overreach boots for a while i think!
I think she possibly could have its just the fact that theres a few little cuts as well doesn't make sense!

Are there any brambles she could have got caught on? Looks similar to when my youngster decides to go raking round in the bushes, lol. x

one of mine comes in with these kind of injuries from time to time in very random and constantly changing places on his legs. I still have no idea how he does it and I will often be watching them in the field throughout the day intermittently as I can see the fields from the house. My only guess is that he picks a fight with the hawthorn hedge when Im not looking! Ive given up and try not to worry and just slather them in aloe vera! If I tried to protect every area he does it to he would be out in over reach boots on every leg, brushing boots, knee boots and hock boots and doubtless he'd find a gap in the armour! (or alternatively the boots would rub him or something!) so I leave him to live and be an idiot :p.

I had a t/b mare who used to do that behind in the field, they are called speedy cuts, they just strike into themselves while galloping around and turning sharply, you could try brushing boots and as you can only turn out for a short amount of time it would seem like the best option. Good Luck

Hello,

Not sure if she is shod or not, but could be the clenches on hers shoes that are catching, has happened to mine a few times when due for shoeing :)

Nope she's not shod, sizz think that could be it the field isn't huge and she doesn't plan her turns just skids and spins alot!
