Some of you may have seen my posts about my 16.2hh WB who got diagnosed with a heart condition- well I don't want to go into it as its been a blinking hard couple of months, but he is now at peace.
So....... heard of a loan pony, has some issues but seemed a nice sort and after a phone call with the owner I was happy to go meet him.
He's lush- we went for a hack and all of the issues he normally has- he kept to himself
so had him shod and brought him home Friday. He had a baptism of fire over the weekend 2x hack out with my daughters one on pony other on bike (swapping half way) he negotiated the farm traffic, a shoot and the level crossing all really well and today we did our 1st solo hack and he was also fab!
His default position is to rest his head on your boobs! But he is starting to soften, stretch and round and we were doing some leg yealding today to help when he meets traffic and he was catching on really well! Came back and had a canter across field this was our 1st canter at home and he has been bucking with owner but so far I'm yet to feel one brewing (he's probably waiting until I least expect it
). Got back and had some bonding time, mane pulling and trial plaits (excuse the state of them I'm rubbish with bands) and a tail wash.
So I'm thrilled and who would have thought the lover of big WB's would be so chuffed with a tiny cob! Going to box him over to friends for a hack Wednesday as although he travels well he does sweat up as not travelled that much, flat work lesson at end of week, and thinking of taking him to a meet (although may not go out on the hunt) next week!!!
