How did you sell your saddle?

As the title says really...

I have two beautiful dressage saddles sitting in my tack room not being used, I've been advertising them for the past 3/4 months now and all I've had are time wasters and two scammers!

I have put ads all over Facebook, ebay, gumtree and on BD and have gotten no serious responses.

So for those who have had to sell saddles... how did you do it? Where did you advertise? Did you do anything to make your ad stand out?

Any help would be much appreciated as I don't have much space and would quite like the money!!!

I part ex'd mine with the saddler. I did loose some money this way but I had tried eBay and leaving it at a tiny saddlery shop and that didn't work.
 
Mine was advertised for about a year on preloved, local event pages, Facebook, BD and even put it on ebay (with a reserve) and it didnt sell, but sold within a month of going to my local saddler. Wish I'd done it in the first place, it would have saved so much money and hassle!!
 
One I left with shop that sold 2nd hand stock to sell and the last one I part exchanged with my saddler as I knew it would sit in my garage as I would never get around to selling it. Yes, I didn't get as much as if I'd sold them privately but it was worth it for no hassle.
 
I put my wintec and got so many timewasters it was ridiculous, I then went to a tack shop and left it there with the saddler. It sold in 6 months and they took commission but I was happy with what I got and didn't have to put up with the hassle. I would have thought dressage saddles would sell fast on ebay! xxx
 
I've sold low value ones on eBay without a problem, a couple to fellow liveries (one advantage of being on a massive yard!) and currently I've got two with the local saddlers to sell on commission as their value means they're unlikely to sell easily on eBay and the like.
 
thanks everyone, going to put it on all those sites and look at saddles direct! can't give it to my local saddler as they are specialist saddles and the saddle company it came from won't give me anywhere near what they are worth as the saddler wants to make commission on it again!
 
I've sold through preloved and local Facebook groups. I think saddles direct let people take them on trial which I don't like. How do you know someone will look after it?

I'm trying to sell my beautiful Black Country vinici but will only sell privately. I have taken it over to a yard about twenty mins from me today after she saw on preloved. Sadly though it sat quite low. She did say if she got saddle fitter would I bring it back for another look, which I agreed too. Nice genuine buyer

oh i don't think i would want them going out on trial... Ive looked after them and if they were to come back in anything but immaculate condition i would be devastated! Im giving preloved ago and will see how it goes! Thanks very much everyone!
 
Sometimes it just takes time, there has to be someone looking for that type of saddle in the size. I bought my Ideal Ramsey off Preloved, the seller brought it over for us to try, she got cash and we got something we knew fit.
 
Preloved and offered the option for any prospective purchaser to come with their horse to try it for themselves, sold to 1st viewer but took a couple of weeks and it was a V nice farrington WH for a v reasonable price (I gave up trying to get its market value after a few timewasters and I was getting desperate to get rid of it so I could get a new saddle for my mare).
 
Just keep at it, if they are a decent value then people are less likely to take a punt on them, the cheap ones sell well on the internet I have found - other than that your local saddler.
 
saddles direct wouldn't take my saddle, no luck with ebay and currently its on preloved, only had one message offering me £300, its advertised at £450. The fees with ebay are crippeling, it strikes me they are expensive to buy and worth nothing to sell.

Why would Saddles Direct not take your's? I ask because I was going to contact them tomorrow about 2 I want to sell.
 
Ditto about saddles direct, I have tried them in the past but they are selective about which brands and sizes they need to in keep stock at any given time, which is fair enough as they work by actually buying your saddle from you and from memory they don't take older saddles.

They offered me an option to sell it on their classifieds ... But it was literally just that, they wouldnt take it into their store and sell it via the normal route so it was really no better than using ebay of preloved.
