How do I clean suede on a saddle??

Hi everyone

I tend to be more of a post on other peoples threads rather than start my own but could do with some help!

I have just bought a lovely new (2nd hand) saddle which I am very pleased with however it has a suede seat. I have never had a saddle with suede on it before and so have no idea how to clean and care for it! I use effax on my tack normally but dont think this would work on suede.

Any ideas please???

I hoover mine! Honest, just use the little attachment and give it a good going over to get the worst of the dust and dirt out. The brush it over GENTLY with a stiff brush to get the pile up nicely. Dont put saddle soap or oil on it....it wont come out!

I brush mine with a nail brush and then spray on NikWax suede waterproofer. Do this every 3 months or so. Brings it up like new.

get a decent suede brush - do not put anything on it ever! use the brush lightly and in many directions to bring the nap of the leather up

suede brush = shoe shop, like barratts or clarkes or something

im sure you can pick up a suede brush near the boot polish in tesco or asda!
