Hi there, wondered if anyone knew how I can find out about my horse's history.

She is an ex-race horse TB mare, born in 1991. I have heard of the general stud book but nothing seems to come up online.

Does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks....

No - a friend of mine rescued her from someone and I know very little. The name I take is provided in her passport. I have no hope have I!?

Many many years ago I managed to get a copy of my horses pedigree from Weatherbys (non TB register). Can't remember which betting site, but one gives all the racing and breeding history - sorry, thats not much help really is it!

I was just going to say, if you know the name the allbreedpedigree.com is your best bet, it's a fantastic site.

Also if you know her racing name (should be in passport), log on Racing post (free) and there's history of racing and her sire/dams names too... it's a start.

Theres a website called the ex racers club i think i emailed the guy, H.Mayer with my horses racing name and he gave me tons of information free of charge! If you don't know the racing name does she have a freeze mark or microchip you could use to trace her history?

No freeze mark or chip. Her name is Lochie - but not sure whether that is her race name. She's 17 this year so born 1991. Hmmmm, I am so keen to know but doubt there's allot more I can do.

How do you know that shes raced? Really don't know what you can do without her racing name. I managed to trace my horses entire racing history and i even found the auction records on the internet so i know what she sold for and when, feel like i have to bow down to her now haha unfortunately because she never won or nearly won a race i can't get any pictures of her racing, i would absolutely love that but never mind.
I think you should still contact H.Mayer on ex racers club, he was so helpful and he would be the best person to advise you coz he's tracing these horses every day.

If you do manage to find her history you can possible get Video of her racing, I managed to get video of my mare from Racetec. I can't rememeber the website but a bit 'googling' should get you there. Good luck

Just had a quick look on Race tec, wow thats amazing it looks like i might be able to get my video afterall, did you pay £40 for yours, its a bit steep but it would be worth it. What year was your horse racing?

go to www.pedigreequery.com and put in your horses name or the dam or sire name. you can trace the family tree right back to the founding TB's

Got a bit confused here. Is she definitely a TB? What sort of passport have you got? If it is a Weatherbys Passport, then that would have the registered name on that - unless she wasn't registered - but raced? If you know for a fact she is a TB and was born in 1991, then she wouldn't probably have a microchip, wasn't done really around then, BUT she would have had DNA taken and registered, so her whole parentage could be traced from this. Ask your vet (if he's a horse man) or contact Weatherbys 01933 440077 and ask them. Good luck - once you've got one fact about her, it is very easy to check the whole bloodline out.

have found......

Loch Carpal (GB) 1991 Filly Nearly A Hand - Loch Chastity

Loch Folley (GB) 1991 Filly Lochnager - Cute Dancer

Loch Lady (GB) 1991 Filly Lochnager - Flashing Form

Loch Wee (IRE) 1991 Filly Colmore Row - Mear-Aille

Lochbelle (GB) 1991 Filly Robellino (USA) - Peckitts Well

Lochmore Lady (FR) 1991 Filly Gairloch - La Poularde

Lochnaretta (GB) 1991 Filly Lochnager - Zattere

But give Weatherbys a call, they are very helpful and will tell you what routes you can take. I had problems with my mare as i knew her sire & dam but her papers had got lost over the years then turned out she was un-named so got a name registered so could breed from her, took a while but they were VERY helpful though it all

It may be worth calling Weatherbys anyway..if you have her dob they may be able to help in finding out something - they are very helpful - the guy I spoke to knew my mare's sire straightaway and told me a bit about him when I called up (this was ages and ages ago mind you)...if you have her passport the info you need is on there anyway for them to trace her.
I have my mares races on dvd...I got them from SIS betting - they have to keep all races for legal reasons. I just phoned them up, they edited all her races and put them on video for me which I transferred to dvd (as I had got her race history from weatherbys) for me (at a cost!)...
