How do I find out the ideal weight?

I have a 15.1 PRE who I brought over from Spain about 6 years ago.
He has put on a lb or 2 (plus a few more) so on a major diet but I’m struggling to find out what an ideal weight should be.
I have tried google but seeing so many different figures.
So is there anywhere that can be trusted to give me an indication of what he should weigh?

What he weighs isn't that important, condition scoring is far more important. Knowing his weight is really only useful for tracking how much he's lost /gained.
If you Google for horse condition scoring, you'll get lots of info on how it's done

That's only a part of assessing condition. The horse could have visible ribs but carry lots of fat elsewhere.

He is quite a way of that yet But his girth is definitely easier to do up so it’s working.
He has had time off due to injury so whilst he lives on fresh air it is hard to keep the lbs off.

I've got a fat cob but I find that soaking hay over night does help.
