How do I get a yellow tail white!

Hi

In December we bought my daughter a new pony who is grey, I have never had a grey before, always had bays or chestnuts! Her tail is particularly stained with yellow pee. I have tried various things including A Touch of Silver but it still won't come out. Has anyone got any good tips?

Firstly whatever you use - patch test first!!

Now I have said that - Daz, biological washing liquid, window net whitener on the hair only - avoid the dock. Some people swear by ketchup - I've never used it though so cannot comment.

Put it on, leave it on for 10 mins or so and rinse and repeat as necessary and they purchase a tail bag and leave it on 24.7

I find fairy liquid great.I started using shampoo instead of it for a while and it never looked properly clean.

I ended up having to make a light bleach solution. I dipped the end of the tail in and slathered it with conditioner. So if you're stuck you could try that.
 
Wash tail rinse then rub in loads of tomato ketchup leave for at least twenty minutes rinse wash again then condition.
Do it several times a week until you get on top of it then never let it get dirty .
I have a two greys btw so I walk the talk .
 
I really rate vetrolin white n Brite shampoo as the best blue shampoo out there, not the cheapest but it works! I sometimes use fairy liquid for an initial wash, use warm water if particularly grubby and then use the vetrolin, leave in for 10 mins plus if really dirty and wash regularly to keep on top of it. I have to be careful of the occasional slight blue tinge but way prefer that to yellow, lol ;D.
 
You've got to get as much of the stain as you can out first before the optical brighteners in the blue shampoos have a good effect. I've been using bi carb then white vinegar followed by lists of conditioner and it's getting there. Think I'm going to try ketchup next...

The blue things are great for added zing once the hairs are mostly white but they don't cover proper yellow.
 
There are a few other recent threads on this, as the owner of two greys I've contributed to most of them! If you have a look through my forum posts you'll find a few threads full of great advice.
