i went down the yard yesterday morn to get my mare in and turn the boy out and my mares hind leg was massive so i have been cold hosing it twice a day, bandaging it and she has been having danilon. vet said if it hasnt gone down by the end of the weekend he will come out as their is no cuts or marks to indicate what has caused it so im praying its not a tendon or similar! but ovb im hosing it to take the heat down but then im bandaging it so try and reduce the swelling so it gets warm again!? how do i keep it cool?

Does the filling extend evenly across the leg? Does it pit when you squish it?
If it's hot like that then it may well be an infection, in which case I'd want her on antibiotics asap.

yep its even swelling all the way up, but if the bandage is left off it gets very large, it doesnt squidge when you press it. it has literally come up over night! i have 10 anitbiotics that were sent out for prince but his swelling was a splint forming and we thought it was thrush causing infection. vet said he will be out first thing monday if it hasnt gone down but i will ring him 2moro night to update him anyway.

could you put ice cube packs between the gamgee and the bandage, to help keep her leg cool, do it for several hours before last thing at night and them do her leg as you have been doing.

iv got like a cool pack that you put in the freezer to get it cold that i used for my back and my foot if that would be anygood!

I would start the antibs tomorrow morning, 1 sachet AM and PM
If it's infection there's no point trying to cool it down, the heat will be helping more than it's harming. Obviously if you still think it may be tendon/ligament the opposite is true but it does sound more typical of infection
