Only asking cos he is 16.1...and I think I make him look rather ponyfied...

Hi...I think you look fine too but it looks to me that pic hasn't been taken from ground level so that can give an illusion that he is smaller than he really is.

But honestly - you look ok

Its wierd.... you look fine, but your legs are high up.... and your upper body looks tall

You look better in the first pic as you are sitting, but in the second you look tall as you are rising......

I think its a much better size for you than a 15hh+ would be

I look bigger on my own horse... but I think you look better on a Bruce sized neddy, but maybe like you say its just what you are used to?

ETA you look slightly bigger in the second as you are rising.... and I think the saddle cloth drowns the horse slightly

You look fine, though quite tall on him - but it really depends how you feel. He might just feel a bit small to you and in that case I'd say look for something bigger.

However I would say that if you think you make him look like a pony, I'd steer clear of anything smaller!

I agree with you Chloe.....from an appearance point of view he's not quite big enough, although his ability to actually carry you isn't in question.

Trouble is I have got a very long body!

[/ QUOTE ]

You look well proportioned to me....you have an upper leg length that complements your upper body well, but you are quite tall & to present a more elegant picture you need a horse of an appropriate size.

(NB. Most riders (self included) would be very jealous of that length of leg as well.....)

You make him look fat ;-)

Hehe you look a good pair - size doesnt always matter if the horse can comfortably carry you - look at WFP and Tamarillo..! Nice horse btw.

he looks a lovely horse as you look a nice rider, but don't take this the wrong way but i think you look a little big on him although he's perfectly capable of carrying you as you're no heavy weight !!

You look very tall on him. He will have no trouble carrying you though and if you were riding western, you would look positively little on him

I think you look fine. I'm 5"11 and have a 16.1/2 horse, I do look leggy on her but not silly. I think his saddle is too far forward in the pics which is giving the wrong impression, He will be absolutly fine for you!

Its worth remembering the rule that seems to apply == the smaller you are the bigger horse you need!!!!

i think the overall image would be better balanced if he was taller or longer in the back. it does look like you're a little perched, but i think that is perhaps the length of your back (i have the same issue, all body but the legs aren't stumpy). I'm 5'5 and just about got away with riding my girl at 14.1hh, but look much better on 16-17hh because of my length of back.

i don't think he'd struggle carrying you, it's purely from an aesthetics perspective. he does look like a nice sort though

You look tall on him and the picture is not right. I would go for something chunkier (if you are looking at that sort of height) that will take your leg up more, or something taller. He can carry you fine though. Other problem is that the saddle looks really far forward so you look like you are perched on his neck (I know you are rising up on one of the pics but the saddle is putting your legs in an odd place.)

You are not too heavy/big for this horse. I think that you do look a bit tall perhaps. (Though this is just from an aesthetic viewpoint).
To be it looks like your stirrups are quite short? I am wondering if you had a dressage saddle this could help. It would encourage you to have a longer leg and sit more into the saddle so your legs would hang vertically downwards and your upper body would be more balanced/look less long.
Even in this saddle, it looks like a longer stirrup would help, but this is exactly the quandry you get with a forward cut saddle (the tendancy to brace knee forward raising the whole position and threatening to throw rider forward).
