How do I say this is so wrong?

Just to feed the troll ;)

here I am on a 15.2hh youngish PRE (which, of course, we all know mature VERY late)

Lets see what you guys opinions are on whether I'm too heavy, before I tell you my weight :D

I think you're not far off 12st. I think you look tall.

At 15.2 and I assume about 500kg (1102.3lbs) so going on the previously posted calculation alone... 13.1st max this horse *should* carry.

Going on the 20% rule this horse *should* carry 15st 10lbs.

If you go by the 15% rule... 11st 11lbs.

Nice PRE by the way. How's he/she bred?

His owner had all his breeding, he came over from Spain at 3 from Yeguanda something? He was Luminoso VIII.

He was a beautiful horse to ride, it was a shame that me and his owner had different opinions on how he should be kept the standard of care he deserved. :(

He's now with a stunt company in Wales I believe and doing very well!

In that picture I was at the just over 13 and a half stone, and he powered through with me absolutley fine. I'm slightly heavier at the minute, but have lost 17lbs - and have been riding 15hh Connies and 16hh TBs without problems. I am tall though - about 5"8/9. And I have very broad shoulders and heavy set legs (true boxers confirmation ;) ) so will never be skinny!

Most men are well over 14stone - and I have seen a few being carried by lighter horses absolutley no bother. I can imagine WFP is heavier than 14stone and he has had some very little horses, and he's not exactly hacking twice a week is he ;)

I am no lightweight and when offered horses to ride have more than once stated how much I weigh and asked if the owner is happy with that. I refused to ride one pony because I thought I was too heavy. Yes, a good rider who carries him/herself is 'lighter' than a novice, but as some posters have said, 14 stone is still 14 stone and a lightweight, 15 hand three year old is too young to be carrying that kind of weight.. I know of one 14 hand pony whose back problems/unsoundness was put down to being ridden by too heavy riders (by the vet), so they had to limit her weight to 9 stone. And when writing for dressage judges, I have had them say occasionally (on the test sheet, too) that the rider looked big for the horse. (In other words, they were too heavy for it.)

I guessed at 13 stone because you are obviously quite tall. You ride very nicely and I would not say you are too heavy for that horse. However, if you were more of a novice, then you would be IMO.

Is that calculation really correct? If so it means my boys can carry no more than a 9st rider, at 14.2 each that sounds rather light? Not that I'm anywhere near 9st sadly I don't look out of place on a 12hh pony :o

WFP weighed 76kg at official Olympics 2012 measurements. About 12st (11st 13lbs) so he is really very light.

I think 14st isn't too heavy for a 15hh horse but to keep true to this thread, at 3yo it probably is but that is my humble opinion.

Men in Spain riding those PRE's in Ferias, bullfights, etc well exceed 14st. The horses are super-fit yet they do not last very long as far as I am aware. I'd love for someone to show me a decent veteran...

I honestly don't think its as cut n dry as people may think. You think about all the arabs and barbs ridden by bedouin men would defy the calculations too!

Yes I know... deceiving... :D

Even Geoff Billington is only 78kg!!! Tim Stockdale is 80kg so 12st 8lbs.

Yes arabs do carry large weights, however, not generally from 3. The horse the OP mentioned is a slight tb type, which at that age would not be mature enough, but at 5 quite possibly would be. A PRE is also a rather different case in point, as is built completly differently. Personally I don't like heavyweight riders on slight youngsters on a regular basis, as they are maturing so much.

No of course not, are you suggesting that is what I said?

No, but in the OP's post, the horse in question is a 3 year old, which is why she feels it is too heavy. A 15h arab would carry this weight later in life, but not at 3, and I think this horse is similar, possibly able to carry the weight later on, but not now.
