How do I stand after Vetting ?

We did not take it home that day over a week later , and as I said the vet said he was perfect more or less .
If you saw lump which we didn,t at veiwing It would have been one of the things I would have wanted the vet to check .
But the vet if he checked his sheath or even abdomen would not be able to miss it !

If you have read the posts you will see that I have spoken to him , he said that mistakes can be made bit put out when I spoke to him , then he rang me back in a calmer voice asking if I was going to pursue it and I said yes that I have another vet checking it and I wil be in touch !

My apologies, must have scanned too quickly and missed your reply. Go carefully with the second vet....they are not inclined to get involved in long and protracted disputes between practices.

So you didn't closely examine the horse yourself - otherwise you would have spotted the lump.

AGAIN, you took the horse home knowing that it clicked - but the vet didn't mention it, and you didn't question him about not mentioning it.

AGAIN, you took the horse home after it was vetted without your permission on a different day - without your boyfriend present (as arranged).

Sorry, I sound as if I'm beligerent - and I don't mean to be, it's just all odd.

Why would anyone do what you have done?? The vet is supposed to represent your interests, not the vendor - so why on earth did you buy this horse?

Any way, as I said before, unless you're unhappy with the horse, I just don't see what the problem ultimately is.......

Sorry

Surely it doesn't matter what you are buying the horse for. If you book a 5 stage vetting, it should be the same regardless of which vets you are using.

Also, does sound a bit dodgy to me that the dealer arranged the vet, and they did it the day before without your knowledge. How do you know a 5 stage definitely took place?

It does, and you should be specically asked by the vet what the aims are for the horse.

Its very easy to judge after the event and hindsight is a wonderful thing.
However I do think it sounds dodgy and bad practice on the dealer AND vets front.A vetting is only a snap shot at that particular time , and gives a view on the horse's health at that time only.
Have you been issued the vetting certificate yet?, I have a horse that clicks and the vet passed it for the purpose that I wish to use him for which was hacking, schooling , really all PC activities, it doesn't affect him at all. The lump however is a different matter, I would suggest in the first instance that you get a diagnoisis , it may be something and nothing.

If I was you , I would like to know why the change in time for the vetting, this should be explained by the dealer, secondly I would also want clarification that this vet is indepandant to the sellar. I had a vetting done only few weeks ago and it was only a small village and although the sellar had her dog looked at and not the horse, the vet refused to do the vetting as bad ethics.

I hope you sort out all this , and yes always try to go to the vetting and I know that your OH was going, but plenty of people still are unable to go for one reason or another.
