Now my 10 year old has started local shows on our lovely new pony i've discovered just how scary it is when there jumping, might only be 1ft 9 but i sure i stop breathing when she approach a jump !, she did'nt get placed today was bless here was thrilled cos she jumped a treble for the first time ever. me i'm just overjoyed not to be sitting in A&E , am i being over paranoid or are you mums out there the same .

Sometimes I just can't watch my daughter going round. I am jumping every jump with her and most of the time my heart is jumping out of my chest too.

It's also scary watching some of the other little ones go as they seem to think the faster you go the better your round! Some of them really give me the heeby jeebies.

My mum used to turn her back and talk to someone else :p

When I had my JA pony she had those over reach boots that were like leaves so made a clackity clack noise when she cantered (all the rage then  ;) ) and my Mum's told me since that all she could think was how fast I was going according to the noise! She also said that people in the crowd making ooooo ahhhh noises were also not appreciated (mare was talented but the devil in carnate

My Mum finds it hard to watch me Showjump so when she watches me do XC she nearly has a heart attack, bless her. But she is getting a lot better now. God knows what she would be like if i fell off and hurt myself. But i am glad that my mum is caring and worried for me rather than getting shouted at etc. Its just a natural thing for mums 2 worry x

I'm not a 'little showjumper' (infact, a 20-something eventer!) but my mother and auntie still have kittens whenever I jump. weather it is 1ft6 with a youngster or 3ft6 they still say they find it horrific. So sorry, It isn't something that will probably stop... I also can't walk a course with either because they will say at EVERY fence ''goodness... this is huge... '' or ''God - look at the size of that'' or (even more confidence inspiring) ''you're going to die... please don't die''!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mum can't watch me ride full stop, hence why she didn't come with me today (XC Schooling!)!

O, and I'm 23

oh i don't feel alone in my terror now , had to smile when i was going round the 2ft 3 and i could hear a little voice shouting LEGS MUM LEGS !!!! . oh how the tide turns lol

My daughter started riding a very fast pony when she was 11. Her jumping rounds were often met by gasps from the audience, it was very scary, and I probably aged several years watching her at first, but soon realised the pony was so clever that it probably looked worse than it was. I used to video her rounds (yes it was that long ago), and it was less scary through a viewfinder so perhaps you could try getting a camcorder.;)
