How do racehorses get ridden

I used to walk for a trainer ans one of th eways that the horses quietened was to take your feet out of the irons - it is something many jockeys do when they have finished work and the horses learn that this is a signal that work is over and time for a walk.

From what I remember from riding out at Market rasen, when I was skinny and brave :D when you take up the contact it is all systems go, that and leg leg leg.

When you relax and soften your hands almost to the withers and sit, basically all communication stops, so they collect themselves back, therefore you and horse naturally get slower.

Rubbish expalanation and I am sure I will be corrected :)

well when i 1st got mine i schooled him for a bit and the slightest contact and he was off! i now have him in the school where loosen it and he goes! but out on the track (looks liek a gallop track) no matter if there loose or tight he still goes when i ask for a canter and trust me there is absolutly no stopping him!!! giving the reins pulling seasawing bridgingleaning back loosening my legs off ( that took guts haha) but still no stopping....

guess how he stopped!!!

i jumped off and he stoped and came over to me lol!!

this happens everytime!....

iv stoped jumping off now though and he either slams the brakes on at the last min and i either stay on or go over his head... or he falls to his knees!!! (only done the latter twice thank god!)

so any tips for me lols!!!

hes not being naughty he just thinks its what i want...

PS... hes brilliant on feilds loose rein canter round them and a nice steady gallop comes back down easily!!

oh and hes in a snaffle! noway am i changing the bit theres no need!
