A couple of weeks after I bought my boy he bogged off with me in the school, about 6 laps of motor biking round which scared the cr@p out of me. I think something behind the hedge scared him and being in a new home he had no one he felt he could trust so took self preservation into his own hands.
Once we had built some trust he knew that he could trust my choices and if I told him that he didn’t need to run from the spooky object then he would believe me.
Unfortunately you can’t rush trust (and that goes both ways). You can only demonstrate to your horse that you are a reliable human.
