By scrimping!! I don't have fashionable clothes, just replace jeans and sweaters as needed i.e when they have holes in!! I think before I buy, my headcollars, lead ropes, rugs etc are years old but all good quality so will last. I do a big food shop with Iceland, not the most delectable of supermarkets but very cheap and cheerful for freezer fillers, I also batch cook stuff like sheperds pis, chilli and lasagne and freeze it. I LOVE raiding the supermarkets for reductions - lovely shoulder of lamb for £2.50 in Sainsburys last week and in M&S got a smashing lump of beef reduced from just under £20 to £4 - I will cook it all and use some for sandwiches, then slice the rest, pop in a tub cover with gravy and voila! instant roast dinner!!
I look out for cheap deals for holidays, do Sun £9.50's in the UK and get good last minute deals abroad - I don't drink or smoke and rarely go out, if we do go for a meal it's either on a voucher (groupon deals) or to the local 2 for £10 place. I will never be rich but at the moment the above works for me.
