I'm ridiculously pleased, I finally have my own pair of Ariat Telluride short boots 😁. I have big feet (size 9) and whilst I've always admired Tellurides, I thought that I was sized out. Turns out that they do men's sizes too, and I got fitted with a very comfortable new pair of laced Tellurides yesterday.

It's all part of the rugged theme of suitable clothing for trek and trail riding, including dismounted scrambles down steep slopes.

How do people keep care of them, please? I do have the Ariat leather polish cream that I use on my Devon Nitros, is that the best for the job? They are likely to take some hammering.

ETA They are like this, so not a shiny leather.

I wish I could help but this is an alien concept. I have the zipped ones (do they have a slightly different name?) and I wash them in dilute washing up liquid water every now and then, because I read once that horse urine destroys leather, and also to get the dust out of the zip, but I rarely do more. I think I did once polish them with normal shoe polish, but mine are smooth leather. They are just the best and comfiest footwear for everything from popping round the supermarket to trekking over hill and dale on rough ground. Congratulations on your purchase!

I have the zipped Terrain plus the laced Telluride.(as well as a good selection of other ariat footwear from Portlands or mules for work, Grasmeres for deep winter, Bromonts for RC etc)

Zipped ones, keep the zipper base clear on inside tongue, I use a hoof pick. Plus use a quick wipe of conditioner or furniture polish on the zip regularly as over time when you cant be bothered to fully zip up, the zips can then tend get stuck part way, usually due to dust getting in!

I only use the likes of tack conditioner on the Tellurides and Terrains, current ones are either Effax or Naf leather conditioner, same is used on the Grasmeres. But rinse boots off thoroughly and dry well 1st.
Parade gloss for the Bromonts and jodh boots.

I have a similar pair but tuffas zipped ones I have cleaned them with Nikwax brush on stuff and then reproofed them with Nikwax and they're still going. I do rate Nikwax I do my coats with it too and it's easy to use.

Are the Ariats wide in the toe box bit as I am looking to upgrade.

The men's boots seem to be wider - they are a D width whereas the women's are a B fit. Blokes sizes go from a 7 up so there is overlap between them and the women's sizes, which top out at an 8.5.

Mine do have a roomy toe box, which is very important to me as I unfortunately have hammer toes.

That's a shame because my feet always fit better in men's boots but I need a six.

@Gloi same I'm a 6 but have a neuroma so need room for my toes to spread, ladies riding boots are notoriously narrow. I think I might have to resort to altra walking boots and cages. Or invent wider shoes.

I'm in Meindl comfort fit walking boots which are great , though I took the insole out until they were worn in to give extra room.

A Mortons neuroma? I had one, was successfully sent on it's way via steroid injection by ultrasound 2 yrs ago.

I have those boots. i am on my third or fourth pair. i bought them originalyl for Trec (scrambling, running etc). TBH I just brush the mud off when they are dry, only pair that got ruined was when pony lived on a farm with masses of chickens and therefore chicken sh** ! I WAs given a replacement pair. Wouldn't have anything else.

ermmm, they occasionally get a wipe over with jeffries leathercare cos that's what I have and I have no tack that needs cleaning. .

I have two pairs of tellurides zip up ones. they are the best, most comfy yet practical boots I have ever owned., One very old scruffy pair that I have used for everything from gardening to hiking through bog land with the dogs. Every so often I hose them down and then apply a generous coating of Nikwax waterproof spray. They are still fully waterproof but I have had to WD40 the zips a couple of times when they have got really clogged up and gunky.

My second pair are like new, I bought them purely for riding in just before my accident in 2020. They are sitting waiting along with my posh new and unused stirrups for a possible return to riding at some distant point in the future. One lives in hope! ☺

I've found the zip Telluride are a tad wider and longer than any other Ariat boots, not much but there is definitely a difference.

They definitely are, I have a pair of zip Volant paddock boots that are the same size but they are actually a much narrower and shorter fit than the zip Tellurides. They have been an excellent buy as well, the matching chaps didn't last too well but the paddock boots still look like new at least 5 years on.

I mainly just hose or brush mine off.

Occasionally they see a dash of tack cleaner or basalm but that can be described as infrequently at best :D

They are great boots though that take some bashing and just keep on going!

Thanks, everyone. I'm liking the general consensus that the Tellurides are tough boots that are not going to have to be fussed over 😁.

I'm a bit precious about my Devon nitros, I do keep them clean and polished, but they are for smart eg lessons.

I have had 2 pairs of the zip up ones and before that a laced pair, they are very comfortable to wear and don’t need braking in but l’m not convinced that the quality is as good as it used to be? The first pair of zip up probably at least 4 years old now has holes where the toe part meets but still seems better then the more recent ones that are 18 months old. I think the lace ups are probably better quality but it was hazzily having to do up all then time. Not sure what to try next?

I have the same ones, primarily for riding holidays abroad, and I give mine a wipe over with Renapur before a trip. It’s awesome stuff and the boots just last and last despite going from deserts to mountains to whatever else.

Brilliant boots and great for those of us with wide feet!

I also rarely clean mine but if I do I use Renapur as a conditioner. My last pair only lasted about 8 months. They cracked at the toe join area and eventually the waterproof lining went but also I wore the sole down smooth. I do wear them to death and use them all year because they’re the only boots I feel comfortable in. I put extra arch supports in mine.
