I Can't get my jods clean after hunting even if I soak them as soon as I get in then wash them. Does anyone have some handy tips to clean them up without having to buy new after 2-3 outings.
Spray vanish onto the worst bits and leave in the washing machine to soak in for 5-10 mins. Pre wash with Vanish white powder and again in the main wash. Don't wash too hot as it will set the stain - 30 or 40 degrees is fine.
For our traditional breeches, they go in the bath in 4" of vanish powder dissolved in cold water (not warm), soak for a bit, then they are scrubbed vigorously with a nail brush.
I've got breeches that are many seasons old - couldn't justify buying new that often!!
Thank you. Sprayed them with vanish today so hopefully it will get the stains out. Think I'll buy restorer packets too, anything to get them cleaner so I don't have to buy new
part of the trick is to wash them as soon as you can - put them to soak as soon as the horse is put away if you can! the longer the mud has to dry the more it stains.
and yes, vanish is what we use (or Tesco's own version thereof)
I've (sadly) found that the vanish oxi action whitener is more effective than the supermarket version - but I buy it every time it's on sale so by the beginning of the hunting season, I have a good stash!
