I dont get nervous about the actual competition its just riding my bugger of a pony
crazy.gif
At home I am fine on him, but at shows he seems to be on springs, bronk every ten seconds especially when other horses are around him which means we cant really warm up. When he is naughty it makes me very nervous which then makes my riding rubbish and pony just takes the piss

So any tips etc on how to make me more relaxed and calm when pony is bronking and being a general idiot?

Drug you both up with rescue remedy

Bite a chunk out of an apple, put some rescue remedy on it and give to ponio, should help keep him calm, meaning you can calm down because he won't be going around like a loony pony

... although I can imagine a loony Doug would be quite cool

I agree with rescue remedy, I use it before shows and rallies etc because my horse can be a general bucking, broncing, rearing nightmare and it really helps me to keep carm.

Can horses have human rescue remedy?!
grin.gif
Does it actually work? Im going to need about three bottles of the stuff, Doug will need about fifteen!
wink.gif
Im only doing the 1ft9 2ft but on a pony that has springs attached to his hooves its very scary

I personally don't give Suni rescue remedy because she's the most accident magnet/prone pone ever and she's probably end up being allergic to it or something

Although I have heard that people give it to their horses so I guess it does work.

I've heard of lots of people giving their horses rescue remedy, I just wouldn't reccommend giving a lot... would be like riding a drunk horse surely?!

Maybe wait for a few more replies, some other people might say it's a good idea, others may not

Also, with humans some people say that it is only psychological - the thought that you have taken something makes you believe that your nerves have been calmed... But either way, I think it's a good idea whether it really works or whether it just makes you think it's worked, I'm gunna get me some
laugh.gif

Of course you can use it for horses!!
smile.gif
I use it for mine for all sorts of things - just use an apple or a carrot and drop about 10 drops on it and feed - I do a couple of portions every 15 mins - don't forget to take some yourself!!
wink.gif
You can also put some drops in a bottle of water and keep drinking it. You would have to drink gallons of the stuff to get drunk so heavens only knows how much a horse would have to drink to get drunk!!
grin.gif

It is perfectly safe for you and your ned!!

I'm sure it's perfectly safe - we used to give it to my dog when she had serious separation anxiety, and my grandma gives it to her tiny little JRT with no ill effects - just a much less neurotic terrier! I think it's a good idea.

magic works

we used to feed it to wilma everyday as a supplement
now i feed her protexin, which calms her gut and shes much better

rach; i have the same problem, and i will probs try rescue remedy

but it does get easier the more you do it
i am now not a nervous wreck in warm up
so i just need to get that in the main ring :P

NAF magic won't make him drowsy, we gave it to henry. It is aimed for people going to shows for calming it says in all there advertising, don't think they'd sell something that makes them drowsy for that! try sedalin if you want a drowsy effect

The warm up ring is the worst bit
