LOL I agree with this!

He goes from being too clever for his own good to the thickest animal to have walked this earth, take for example the very slight
(as in 6 inch) step he must step down to go onto the yard from his barn, some days he will step up/off it totally normally, other days he see's it as an obstacle that MUST BE CONQUERED before he can step on to the yard or be turned out and proceeds to walk up to it, prop himself, look over it edge and then leap off.
It gave me quite a shock the first time he did it because I had him on the end of the rope and behind me!

Bit of a 'safety first' merchant!

He tends to start from the viewpoint that most things are dangerous but after a look, a snort, a sniff and 10 mins careful inspection and contemplating whether 'said thing' (and that can range from a new person, new rug, clippers, the farrier, the lorry, puddles, water generally, muddy puddles or patches, etc etc) is really going to jump up and eat him or not, he normally ticks it off his danger list and doesn't worry about it after that
