How do you disguise your horsiness for work?!!

I don't...I just get to work picking hay out of my hair and stick a lab coat over the top of my clothes...I could be wearing pjs under my lab coat and no one would care! I only go to the field in the mornings to chuck a feed at them in the field so generally don't get too grubby!

I work in a (mainly) pet shop that sells horse feed & bits of grooming stuff/supplements etc so it doesn't really get noticed much!

Horse is on full livery though so I don't go up on a morning anymore - when she was on DIY I used to get changed out of smelly clothes at work + perfume ++ (Vera Wang; Princess).

I need these hints and tips! Current job is quite laid back and I also have the horse at home (rent a room at the livery yard!). But as of 2 months time I'm changing jobs and moving to a different house and yard. Am going to have to perfect the quick change at the yard especially as new job is very corporate! Am thinking I will need an assortment of hand cream, perfume, deoderant and hair products!

Currently I cut my nails as short as possible which is jsut easier. Also have the horse on deep litter shavings so I only have to skip out and sweep before work. Have haynest filled and ready. Total change of clothes (down to underwear) combined with John-Paul Gaultier (sp?) perfume seems to work at the moment but I am worried that I don't disguise it as well as I think I do!!

I work as an estate Agent and do my 2 horses on the way to work. I stick on overalls over my work clothes & wellie boots, I look funny doing horsey stuff when I have full makeup on and you can see my pearl necklace & earings on. When finished, strip off overalls & boots to reveal clean work clothes, spray on perfume, re-touch makeup & I'm on my way.

But, quite often I'm found chatting to clients when I notice strands of hay poking out my top!

I work for the local council so am office based and also have to deal with members of the public, as well as attend meetings etc.

I get semi ready for work - washed, make up hair etc. Mostly dresed then trackie bottoms and horsey coat and wellies on top. Do horses, whip off horsey layer in feed room, add work skirt/trousers, walk to car in wellies, put work shoes on and go to work. I wash my hands with a nice smelling hand wash before leaving work and put my perfume on in the car after horses

Still end up with hay in hair or mud on shoes at times.

Everyone knows I have horses anyway.

Boiler suit over work clothes if i don't ride! Always do my make up in the rear view mirror. Gloves to keep the c**P out of your nails. Baby wipes are always in the car.

Tip of the day is to spray purfume on your hair before you go to the stables. Helps to prevent the odor sticking to your hair!

My hair is only long so that i cvan tie it back after i have ridden. The day i have it short and it need straighening every morning is the day i can kiss goodbye to riding before work!!

It is a great feeling to have ridden and mucked out before 8am. Sets you up for the day and keeps the OH happy if you get home at a reasonable hour and put tea on after work!!!

When I had the horse to do before uni I really didn't hide it well lol. Generally I'd have wellies on over my jeans, a "stables jumper" and a "stables jacket" on, then once the horse was done I'd change my shoes, jumper and jacket, and put some perfume on. Even though I don't have a horse now, I still look horsey when I go in - it's usually jeans, Joules/Rydale top and country style boots.

one of the girls at the yard rides in the morning and then dips her fringe in a bucket shampoos it then blowdrys it with her yard hairdryer ! I kid you not !!!

I on the other hand don't bother - I work on a construction site, everyone else is covered in mud ... tell tale sign of my coat hook is the pile of hay on the floor underneath it !

+ side I have unlimited access to hiVis !

Mine live out, so not too smelly (or so I think!). However, on the mornings I run out of time and can't wash my hair, Batiste dry shampoo is my best friend!
Perfume - Clarins Eau Dynamissante - nice and citrussy to neutralise those acidic wee smells from the field shelter!

p.s. Mrs M - you drive 80 miles a day to work??? You must be shattered!

Totally agree about it sets you up for the day. Everyday I feel like I've had a little fun before work. My OH is also happy that I'm home on time to cook tea, seeing that he finances my horses I like to keep him sweet lol

I am an equine photographer, and my boss is a freelance photographer who has horses, and our studio is on a farm, so I just go in covered in mud and stinking of poo and no-one seems to mind :D
