How do you get into showing?

I would quite like to do a bit of showing with my whippet. Just for fun.

How do you find out upcoming shows, ringcraft lessons etc?

Am in Hampshire.

Contact local breed clubs I'd guess, or maybe crufts have some information

The two main show processors where you can find show schedules are Higham Press and Fosse Data. Whippets probably have lots of breed clubs too - quick Google turned up South West Whippet Club which might be your closest.

Ringcraft clubs seem to be universally poorly advertised, seems to be more word of mouth than anything, sometimes the odd Facebook group or a mention in a canine society's show schedule.

Does your dog's breeder show and would they be willing to act as a mentor? If you've never shown before it'd be a good introduction to meet them at a champ show and be shown the ropes. The Kennel Club also hold have-a-go sessions at champ shows throughout the year.

Go along. Join a breed club. Find a good mentor. Be humble. Listen. Learn. Read some pedigrees and have some knowledge/find out some history about the breed. Ignore the grumbling if your dog beats someone who's been in it for longer.
