How do you get the white bits white?!

Ok so I've tried fairy liquid, blue shampoo and vanish for whites all mixed up together (in hot water) and it's still leaving him a bit yellow! Any tips?! I feel like hanging him from the ceiling so he cant lie in his poo! (Joke, for anyone thinking of complaining at that comment!)

How do you guys get ur ponies sparkly white? Pleeeeease help!

Try NAF tea tree shampoo. Discovered by accident that it seems to get brighter results than blue horse shampoos. Wouldn't be using a washing powder on their coat, though.

However, for the tail, I use a scoop of Vanish Oxy-action in the bucket before I do my final rinse. Works a treat!
 
If you have a coloured, then I can thoroughly recommend the dirty beastie shampoo and the fairy liquid methods mentioned above! I know exactly how you feel, my coloured seems to enjoy using his poo as a pillow during the night, cue a huuuuuge sh*t-stain on his cheek the next morning!

If you have a horse with white feet, try mixing up chalk/talcum powder with water, painting it on, leaving it overnight and then brushing it off the next day. Works wonders on my bay, his white bits are always sparkly clean! Be aware though, you need to brush the chalk off before you put hoof-oil on or you'll end up with white feet too!

Thanks. As mentioned in my first post I have already tried fairy liquid and it still leaves him yellow. Yes he is a piebald stallion and loves nothing more than to lay in his poo!

Heading off to the yard now so gonna try the hibiscrub method as dont have any dirty beastie or cowboy magic shampoos! Does anyone know where I can get these from?
 
i use either fairy liquid or baby shampoo... hot water- as hot as you can bear and a scrubbing brush. wash them with a sponge and just water. and then put the shampoo on them and scrub with the scrubbing brush- really scrub. works wonders for mine who is always v. white!

I have a grey and only use Quic Silver as I have tried everything else (tried the washing powder thing and ended up with a horse with a pink tail - don't ask!!!) it is the only thing in my opinion that works, and I get loads of comments about how clean he is at every show.
 
I use baby shampoo (Johnsons) for my horses white socks Bandage up, then next morning apply liberal amounts of baby talcum powder, rub it in and brush off excess.
Then use black hoof paint to really set the white off!

Hibiscrub is brilliant for legs and tails, although for the rest of the body I use IV Horse Equine Shampoo (it smells lovely!).

After washing my horse's legs (who is unfortunately grey

), I apply chalk powder and then banadage his legs overnight. On the morning of the show, I just simply brush off the dry chalk powder and voila - Sparkling white legs!

Bottle lasts ages as well as don't need lots and gets my skewbald shiny white - gets commented on lots. Gets bathed lots in it in the summer and like the fact that not using lots of chemicals on his pink skin. In winter still does good job though sometimes bit of chalk rubbed over while still wet and then left till next day just to help with the longstanding stains!

The sloshwashes they sell are really good for quickly sponging off any overnight stains too
 
fairy - but you have to have a bucket of hot water, literally put the fairy straight onto an old wet brush and just scrub.
i had a 4 white stockinged one once so i feel your pain! and clip the white bits, makes life so much easier. and very dark hoof oil - like effol - makes it look even whiter!
