Before I had a car I would cycle and pick up my friend on her bike in the next village and we would drive eachother on or chat so forgot about the long cycle :)

But in the deepest darkest winter I would get lifts from various friends of my Mums who all knew I would be needing to go to that yard and give me a lift.

We also shared out jobs so didn't need to go down twice a day if weather awful.

It can be done with a bit of planning :D

Now I just either pop out that back door or walk accross the road but it's not a yard just a field - Do you need to be on a yard or could you rent a field? It depends on your experience?

My yard is round the corner from work, 3 miles from home. I drive to work.

I have to say, I waited til I was 38 to buy the horse! :p I would never have got him when I was less financially stable.

Walk mostly, only takes 20 minutes (keeps me fit :D )

When hubby is around he drives me up- normally when I need him to take up feed/tack/help me with horses etc. Mind you even when he goes up by himself he drives, yet it's fine for me to walk :D

depends what yard I'm on, but the closest one is a 3 minute drive and about a 25 min walk, few more only a 5 minuite drive.

At the minute I can't really afford a horse, but that is because I insist on having a rediculously expensive car. If I didn't have the car, I could have my own flat all to myself, and a horse... comfertably. BUT I am a self made spoilt brat and I spoil myself and I wanted THAT one.... :(
