According to my boy's passport he's only ever had one owner before me but I don't know if that's true or not, I bought him from my YO who got him from a friend who is a dealer and neither of them were on the passport.
I've looked him up on the internet but nothing came up so I was wondering if there are any ways other than calling the original name on the passport to find out what my lad did before he came to me?

According to the passport he's registered with the irish horse register but I can't see on their webpage where to check for his number

Is the old owner in the passport? I wrote to my horse's old owner (Irish, registered with the Irish Horse Board) and got nothing back :( It's a shame, but I know his area of origin and after four years, I guess it doesn't matter, I know him well enough. I did wonder about contacting the vet who did his passport (done in Ireland just before I bought him) but that's probably a bit cheeky!

well I looked up the name of the original owner and apparently he died in the 80's, his father (same name) pre-deceased him but there is someone of the same surname who breeds horses living at the same address, should I try writing to them as well as the Irish Horse Register do you think?

I did consider what i'd do if I don't get a reply and I did think of contacting the vet on the passport... funnily enough he has the same surname as the original owner.... is that a bit concerning or is it just me?
