How do you heat your horsebox

Looking at heaters but diesel heaters are very expensive. Looked at caravan heaters but they all seem to vent through the roof now. Looked at little calor heaters but they need a lot of ventilation. Thought I might try our tiny calor one with a carbon monoxide alarm and see if it goes off as horsebox very airey

Do you mean the living part of a horse box? You don't heat the horse area surely, just rug the horses and bandage legs for warmth when travelling.

I'll watch this with interest as my box doesn't have hook up (yet) and I haven't been able to find an electric fan heater that runs of batteries.

I have an electric fan heater but i have 240v electric in mine so im lucky. You can get battery patio heaters try them?

Look at caravan suppliers, my mum has a gas heater with a small gas bottle in her motor home

We put the gas hob on for a little bit. And lots of extra blankets.

I think this is what we have, but have only ever used it once! If we are staying away overnight and it is chilly, we make sure the ramp goes up as soon as the horse is out and shut all the windows, including those in the horse area. By the time we have got three bodies in there and cooked dinner on the hob we find it is warm enough for the night!

Gas hobs give off carbon monoxide I believe so again you cant leave on

I stayed in a caravan (summer one) last winter. The gas fire took ages to warm the place up, electric heaters even longer. Gas oven on for 5mins would have the place toasty. By far the cheapest and fastest way of heating the place!

Be very carefull!!!! you realy dont want any open flame lit inside a small space for a long time esp if you are sleeping!!!! a Co detector is a good idea but i wouldent trust it , the best thing is a eberpacher lorry night heater they are fantastic give of loads of heat and use a tiny amount of diesel, they cost about £600 plus fitting but truck breakers oftern have them second hand make sure you get the controler and the little pump that goes next to the fuel tank along with the air duct so you can fit it under a seat then you will be toasty warm

Would love one of them but with fitting they are about £1000 new and can't find anyone with a trusted second hand one that will fit.
