After having no control whilst XC schooling in a Hackamore and Dr Bristol combination I got brave an put the Myler Combination in I was a little worried as he also doesnt like being over bitted but and it was amazing I has so much control I even jumped an intermediate table!!!

But how on earth do you keep the nose part up? Its a Myler Short Shank Combination Bit with Correctional Ported Barrel if it makes any difference and I use 2 reins one on the snaffle and the other bottom ring just in case I need need a bit extra.

I love my Myler combination!

I don't have any trouble with the noseband, have you got it tight enough? It should be tight enough that the noseband comes into play before the bit?

Despite lots of soaking and molding the rawhide and making sure the noseband was tight enough to work correctly, I always found it slipped. I have now changed it to the myler combination replacement noseband which is black leather and it's perfect. It is lovely and supple, works brilliantly and had easy to follow instructions.
There are several tack shops online that stock them.

There is a bit of thin waxed string that you tie from noseband to browband until the rope and noseband stop stretching, you may need to lift and tighten it on a few occassions until it settles

This, I think the man that invented them always recommends that you run a piece of string, or similar, from the noseband to the headpiece, then you will never be in danger of the noseband slipping and interfering with their breathing.
